Wordle meets Sudoku
Crosswordle is a free word game developed for web browsers. This is a game based on the popular online word puzzle Wordle. However, it deconstructs the original to create a Sudoku-esque grid that will trap the players in a tangled web of invalid words.
Crosswordle mirrors some of the features of Wordle. It uses the color indicators used by the brain-teasing game. Unlike the original though, it offers three different modes, one of which allows unlimited play. However, it does not have a standalone app. It requires a web browser and a working internet connection to play.
How do you play this game?
Crosswordle offers mechanics almost similar to Wordle. However, instead of guessing the word of the day, the goal is to solve a daily crossword variant. Upon launching, the game gives you a grid that is partially solved but mostly unfinished. There is a final word at the bottom, and your goal is to complete the rest of the grid with the correct letters.
As with the original, the tiles come with colors representing their relationship to the final row of the grid. Green means the letter matches exactly the row, while yellow indicates that the letter is in the last row but a different column. Finally, gray means the letter is absent from the final row. If there are repeat letters, only the appropriate number of tiles will be colored.
Unlike Wordle, this game offers different modes. There is the daily mode, which offers the same solution to everybody. However, this one only has one puzzle per day. If you wish to play nonstop, you can play the unlimited mode. Finally, you can play the builder mode to create your own crosswordle. Players must note, however, that the game requires a web browser and an internet connection to play.
Is the game good?
All in all, Crosswordle will be right up the alley of Wordle fans. The gameplay is familiar as it entails guessing the mystery words. What’s different is that you have three different modes that you can play, one of which allows you to play for as long as you like. Even better, the daily puzzle has difficulty levels. However, it requires a web browser.
